Ok, this story takes place back in the early 80’s. Things were a lit­tle dif­fer­ent back then. For exam­ple, email did not exist. Impor­tant doc­u­ments were sent by mail. So when I had a rou­tine test done to check for HIV/AIDS, the results were sent by mail.

Let me add right here that my col­lege room­mate had it in for me. Basi­cally she was in LOVE with my boyfriend and was obvi­ously jeal­ous that he was dat­ing me and not her.

Back to the story… my room­mate picked up the mail one day before I got home. She knew I was expect­ing some impor­tant med­ical results any day now. She went through my mail (ummm, fed­eral offense!!?!?) and found the results I’d been wait­ing for. She opened my mail, saw the results — that I was clean. Who­ever filled out the form at the doctor’s office marked the results in pen­cil… my room­mate decided to mess with me (I know she was try­ing to break my boyfriend and I up) and she CHANGED THE RESULTS, put it back in the enve­lope as if it had never been opened, and put it with the rest of my unopened mail!!!

I got home and checked my mail. She’s sit­ting there watch­ing me as I open the enve­lope… she watches my face turn to a look of hor­ror and shock! It was really a rou­tine test — I didn’t think there would be any prob­lems at all! Any nor­mal per­son would imme­di­ately ‘fess up to such a hor­ri­ble thing, but no, she let me tell my boyfriend the awful news!!! She watched me cry my eyes out for TWO DAYS before she told me the truth!! Who does that!?! OMG, all these years later, I still can’t believe she did that.

Need­less to say, I have no idea what hap­pened to her after college.

Oh yeah, and that boyfriend is now my hus­band!! Take that!
